This election is even weirder than I had predicted. The question is what disqualifying factor is necessary to make someone drop out of the race? It appears that things have changed so much that even bragging about sexually assaulting women is no long a disqualifying factor.
The other weird factor is that people who support a candidate who brags in such a manner can find a host of reasons to keep supporting the pervert. That has become clearer by the day.
All of this talk about Trump’s comments on that tape released on Friday as “locker room banter” is bullshit. That was not “locker room banter” that was someone bragging about sexually assaulting women just because he is a star.
That is so repulsive that I can’t even find the words to express my displeasure. Then there are the reports that he walked into the dressing room at the Miss Universe Contest which he owned. He even bragged about doing it. He called in “inspecting things” as an excuse for his barbaric behavior.
Then there are reports that he not only walked in on women during the Miss Universe Pageant, it is now being reported that he used the same tactic to walk in on the Miss Teen Universe Pageant. The Miss Teen Pageant included girls as young a 15.
One contestant who reported the incident recalled him saying “don’t worry girls I have seen it all before”. He believes that this was his “right” because he “owned” the pageant.
These are just more examples of his predatory behavior. So I must ask Kellyanne Conway “is walking in on naked women in a dressing room just ‘locker banter’ too? I want to hear her defend such behavior.
I cannot understand how anyone can keep endorsing such a candidate even when they say the behavior was repulsive. Or he should have his mouth washed out with soap. Or those comments made me sick. How sick do you have to be to keep supporting such a candidate?
Worse, how can someone who claims to be a Christian support such a person? Mike Pence said he believes that Trump “apologized” to the American people. I disagree. He said words of I apologize but there was no feeling or contrition behind the words. In other words he has not apologized to anyone.
Paul Ryan said he “would no longer defend Donald Trump or campaign with him” but he never pulled his endorsement. Is that an act of party unity, bravery or cowardice? I believe it is an act of cowardice but you need to make up your own mind on that.
Yesterday a Congressman from Texas was asked what would make him pull his support from Trump. He was even asked if Trump had raped someone would he pull his support. The Congressman stumbled and fumbled and basically said he would still support Trump.
We keep hearing from Trump about “crooked Hillary Clinton”. But several years of investigations including Congressional investigations proven no criminal activity. Yet, Trump’s own Foundation is the only Foundation involved in this election that has been proven to have broken the law.
Since the tapes were released, Trump has gone on a “scorched earth” policy in his campaign. He has doubled and tripled down on the false claim that the “election is rigged” and that is the only reason he would lose. He has fed his Alt-Right supporters so much red meat that they are becoming more dangerous by the second.
Yesterday at a rally with Mike Pence, a woman said that if Hillary Clinton wins the election she is “ready for a revolution”. Mike Pence, to his credit, said no, don’t say that. But the scary part was that she got applause for her comments.
We have reached the point in this election where the fascist behavior of Donald Trump is becoming clearer and clearer. Like threatening to put his opponent in jail if he is elected.
Whenever Donald Trump is called out for his erratic and repulsive behavior, even using his own voice, he lashes out at the world. He blames everyone but himself. No one put a gun to his head and forced him to say these things. He said them because he believes them and/or acted like that.
We do have a lot of problems in our country. We still have race problems that need to be addressed. We still have discrimination problems that need to be addressed. We have policing problems that need to be addressed. We have a lot of things that need to be addressed. But, instead of talking about things like that, we get Donald Trump trying to tear the country apart.
This is the first time in my 50 plus years of following politics that I have heard the nominee of a major party trying to justify fascist tactics to run the country. Even worse, it is the first time that major political figures have supported such a candidate.
The Republicans have unleashed Donald Trump on the country. Now, they don’t know how to handle him. That is because there is no “handling” of Donald Trump. The party’s divisive rhetoric and obstructionist tactics have given us Donald Trump.
The problem is the Republican Party won’t be the only victims of this toxic environment they created. All of America and her people have become victims. The Republican Party needed a divided country so they could win elections because they refuse to be all-inclusive.
Because of their actions, Donald Trump has unleashed domestic terrorism on the country. His actions and words speak loudly for his supporters to terrorize his opponents. And they are doing just that.
This lunatic can never be President!
