Why is it that when Republicans who are either running for President or contemplating running for President go to England and make fools of themselves? We saw Mitt Romney make a fool of himself there. We saw Scott Walker make a total ass of himself. Bobby Jindal made the other two look intelligent in his interview with the British Press. And the list goes on and on.
Now, we have the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party making a fool of himself in Scotland. Of course making a fool of himself is a Donald Trump daily activity. Then, we have Fox News making a fool of themselves again. This is the same network that claimed that there were “no go zones” for non-Muslims in London and other parts of England. There weren’t are still aren’t such zones, but that never stopped Fox News from reporting it.
Yesterday, The UK voted to leave the European Union. In their rush to “inform” their loyal viewership, Fox News had the banner ready and shot it on screen just as quickly as they could. Their banner exclaimed “UK Votes To Leave The UN”! Sorry, Fox News, the UK did not vote to leave the United Nations. They voted to leave the EU which stands for European Union.
Not to be outdone by his propaganda machine, Trump tweeted: “Just arrived in Scotland. Place is going wild over the vote. They took their country back, just like we will take America back. No games!” He also called the BREXIT vote a “wonderful thing”. There is only one small problem with Trump’s praise for Scotland.
That problem is that over 62 percent of Scots actually voted to STAY IN the EU. As a matter of fact, the vote for the UK to leave the EU is likely to cause another referendum for Scotland to leave the UK. When Scotland voted to remain in the UK last time, it was with the understanding that the UK would remain in the EU.
Now that the UK is leaving the EU, Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon said:
Scotland has delivered a strong, unequivocal vote to remain in the EU, and I welcome that endorsement of our European status,”
She added that a second independence referendum for her nation was now “highly likely.”
To place this into proper perspective about Trump’s credentials about being President, you have to take into consideration that Donald Trump said over and over that he listens to “me because I have a wonderful brain”. Excuse me, but I consider myself a fairly intelligent person. If your brain is so “wonderful” how can you be so stupid to say that Scotland “is going wild over the vote and they took their country back” when in fact they voted to stay in the EU. I would say that is representative of NOT having such a “wonderful brain”. Or at the very least an inability to properly use it!
Trump is in Scotland to open up his new golf course. That project alone has not endeared him to his neighbors. As a matter of fact, when he arrived at the golf course he was met by his neighbors with golf balls with the swastika painted on them. The whole project has been a fiasco from the beginning. Trump claims that he has made millions of the golf course. Yet his filings in Scotland show that he actually has lost millions on the project so far.
The golf course project was supposed to include a huge spa type setting with the potential of over 600 local jobs. It never materialized like that. There are about 30 rooms to be let, and about 150 jobs have been created. But, if you look closely on TV at the proceedings, you will notice some Mexican Flags flying from the residences around the golf course.
That came about because Trump decided that the neighbors shouldn’t have a free view of his marvelous golf course. So, he built fences to keep the “local scum” from enjoying the nice view he has produced. Then, he sent the residents a bill for building the fence! To show just how he is going to get Mexico to pay for his wall, not one resident has paid the fence bill, and say they will never pay it!
That is something else that seems to be missing from Fox News coverage of their candidate’s business practices. Trump claims to have this wonderful business acumen, and still manages to piss off his neighbors and lie to the community and the government to get what he wants. Then, he praises the Scots for their “leave” vote when in fact they overwhelmingly voted to “remain” in the EU.
This whole “trip” of the Donald to Scotland is embarrassing. The way Fox News handled the BREXIT vote is embarrassing. The two couldn’t be more suited to each other if they tried. So, what is it about Republican Candidates going to the UK and making fools of themselves? It almost seems like a contagious disease.
If I was the Chairman of the Republican Party, I would get the party to pass some kind of rule that forbids their candidates from making the pilgrimage to the UK. If they cannot come back without making a fool of themselves in the country of the most friendly ally we have, how can we expect them to handle our enemies?
So, Fox News cannot get headlines right, or anything else for that matter and Donald Trump can’t get election results right. The marriage made in heaven I would say. Problem is that Fox News is pushing for Donald Trump to be President of the United States of America.
The entire world seems very much on edge about the BREXIT vote and what it will do to the world’s economy. Fox News and Donald Trump seem to like the idea that the UK is leaving the UN (EU). They also seem to be the only ones who are elated about it. Right to the point where they can’t get the facts straight!
Are we in trouble or what?
