This is a test. This is only a test. If this was an actual blog post, there would be scintillating information right here.
(Our house was broken into and I am testing the old beater machine I am trying to get to work to replace my stolen laptop.)

Bummer. Good luck with recovery, both digital and economic.
Hope all is okay, Kev. Let us know if we can be of any help
Ooh, and I forgot, no matter what the circumstances of the break-in – who did it, where you were when it happened, how long you were away before you found out what took place – remember, if you would have been packing the Desert Eagle, this would not have happened, or something.
I know somebody who packs a Dessert Eagle. But she’s an Alaska park ranger, and it’s to slow down the bears enough for somebody to get a rifle. And yes, the bears there are expected to just be slightly slowed by a full clip of 50cal.
Thanks everyone. We are all fine — although one of the cats is still a bit freaked out. Fortunately, no one was home so no one could have been hurt. we lost mostly stuff, though we did lose some heirloom jewelry and a handful of videos of the kids we hadn’t backed up yet.
And the only way a gun would have helped is if we had trained the cats to use one, and I cannot see how that would ever have been a good idea.
Cats with guns is almost as terrifying an idea as wolves with thumbs.
And the only way a gun would have helped is if we had trained the cats to use one,
That’s my point. I’m sure some libertarian nutjob will posit a reason why the mere presence of guns would have precluded this from ever happening at all.
and I cannot see how that would ever have been a good idea
Again, I got money on some choice libertarian intellectuals finding a way to defend this as well.
Glad everybody is okay though. And, Dan, in case there is any confusion, my attacks are aimed squarely at kooky libertarians and not at proponents of gun rights.
No confusion at all. I’m just being silly in response to shitty news.
