I know the Ayers issue is so three days ago, but for anyone still interested, NPR details the full extent of Obama’s relationship with Ayers over the years.

It’s a valid issue… about McCain’s contempt for the American electorate, his overwhelming hunger to ascend to the Presidency at all costs, his lack of basic decency, and his lack of anything productive to say about the real problems facing the voters.
I have also read that the purpose of the gathering at Ayers home was for Palmer to announce to her supporters that she was stepping down from the Illinois State Senate to run for the U.S. Congress. Obama was invited because Palmer was endorsing him for the seat she was vacating but he was not the principal subject of the gathering. That would suggest the existence of a Palmer-Ayers connection rather than an Obama-Ayers connection.
What exactly is the criteria for the “smackdown” tag?
Just curious.
Carry on.
The tag probably doesn’t fit here, honestly, at least not as such. I generally use it when some position or argument is thoroughly eviscerated, as is the case here, but I think the term does tend to imply that the evisceration is done in a particularly snarky or hard-core way, which is not the case here…
