AlphaPatriot has some blog reaction to the filibuster deal, with an emphasis on TN bloggers. Crooks and Liars has some of the bugger right wing blogs/personalities reactions. Making Light (now written by both the Nielsen Haydens) has a round up of some left blogger reaction. Mad Kane has the most unique take on the compromise. [...]

Filibuster Deal
Posted in Legal Issues, Politics on May 23, 2005 |
Fourteen Senators — seven from each caucus have announced a deal to save the filibuster. Three of Bush’s appointments — Brown, Pryor, and Owens will get votes on the floor. Two other will not, the filibuster is preserved but the Dems promise not to use it except in extreme cases. The first flush is that [...]
Thomas Sowell: Playing the Stupid Card

Thomas Sowell has an unique take on the judicial-confirmation filibuster, in an article at Townhall.com: it’s a form of bigotry. Worse than that, Democrats are distorting the “advise and consent” process by insisting on discussing the reasons why Bush’s judicial appointees would not be good choices for the federal bench. Yes, its prejudice and irrelevancies [...]

The prisoner, a slight, 22-year-old taxi driver known only as Dilawar, was hauled from his cell at the detention center in Bagram, Afghanistan, at around 2 a.m. to answer questions about a rocket attack on [...]
Crooked Timber points out another example of just how hackish the entire Bush faction of the Conservative movement has become: So when Newsweek publishes a story about the Koran being flushed away, it’s held responsible for riots in Afghanistan and Rumsfeld tells the press to watch what they say. When someone — presumably a soldier [...]
I saw The Revenge of the Sith today, and it completely and totally sucked. There is almost nothing to recommend the movie. The person who plays Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader has actually learned to act somewhat over the course of the series and he almost manages to be good. Ewan McGregor does a good job with [...]
Revenge of the Suck

Got to see Star Wars Epsiode III: Revenge of the Sith today, and there’s only one word to describe it. Wow. And this isn’t a good “wow,” either. Most of the reviews I’d seen have said that it was the best of the “new three” movies, even if that isn’t saying much. I have to [...]
