Have a gander at this Fox News story and this CNN story. Both stories read in a very similar fashion. They feature mostly the same facts, and mostly the same quotes from Daschle, Lieberman, Kennedy, and McCain. But in the Fox News version, this quote from Wesley Clark — who is otherwise quoted and mentioned — is conspicuously absent:
“I’m not attacking the president because he is attacking terrorists,” said retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark, a Democratic presidential candidate. “I’m attacking him because he’s not attacking terrorists.”Clark said the U.S. invasion of Iraq diverted resources from the pursuit of the al Qaeda terrorist network behind the September 11 attacks.
Hmm, one wonders why Fox News would opt to leave that one out…
More boots are needed on the ground in Afghanistan. Oh hell yeah.
Faux News!
We report, um, sort of….You decide!
but bush is attacking terrorists
They probably left it out because it doesn’t make any sense.
Why doesn’t it make sense? The terrorists are in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, and Algiers, and we’re spending all our efforts in friggin Iraq, despite the administrations open admission that Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.
It makes all the sense in the world. This administration has completely forgotten about 9/11, and it’s about time somebody (in this case, Clark) called them on it. Too bad Fox doesn’t have the integrity to actually report it.
Thank you, my good buddy, tgirsch. The current administration seems figuratively burying their heads in Iraqi sand.
If Al Gore had won:
A) Afganistan – War or no war (I say he would not have gone)
B) Iraq – War or no war (I say he would not have gone)
Where would we be then….. The headlines would say: AL Gore negociated Peace in the Middle East with Osama. There will be no more 9/11 events (yea, sure, I bet)
