Religion in Public Schools

November 18, 2003 by Kevin

While doing some research, I came across this set of guidelines for what’s allowed and what’s not allowed in public schools, vis-à-vis religion. It seems eminently reasonable, and makes a handy reference for use against people who argue that religious expression is being completely chased out of our public schools. It dates back to 1995, but the list of endorsing organizations is broad and impressive.

Honey, baby boy, IT dates back to at least 1961 when they kicked
“prayer” out of school. You may pray silently to yourself any time you want to. But stay away from the intercom and the flagpole. Whining right wingnuts make an issue out of any little nuance which separates church and state.
