Opinion Editorials – June 28, 2002 David Halperin writes for the Georgetown University Journal of Legal Ethics in Washington about the unprecedented way in which Kenneth Starr operated as a private attorney for big corporations seeking favors from the government at the same time he was leading a mob in pursuit of the head of that government, President Bill Clinton. Starr’s conduct was close to legalized extortion, but both his own profession and the press looked on without protest – with approval, in some cases.
Ahh, so it really wasn’t about the sex – it was about using your power and prestige to extorting money from corporate clients.
That makes it all so noble …
